Skype is a world of video calls and This skype is not limited to video calls it also contains text messages, images and also voice calls.It also included Emotions and much more in its latest versions. It uses our Microsoft account. 
                                    

It was created by Swede Niklas Zennstrom in August 2003. In September 2005, eBay acquired Skype for $2.6 Billion. Microsoft bought Skype in May 2011 for $8.5 Billion. Now it is under Microsoft.
           
The name for this software Skype is because : At first it is called as Sky peer to peer, which was abbreviated to Skyper. But the skyper domain name is already taken so they dropped r from the name and the name Skype is fixed.


At first when skype was just born it doesn’t have the video calling feature. On 14 July 2011, Skype partnered with Comcast to bring video calling service and it came in action by June 17, 2013.

Skype is based on a freemium model. At the end of 2010, there were over 660 million users worldwide.

The skype was highly secured communication starting with an end to end encryption and that encryption can’t be deactivated by any user.
